NAiSE proudly hosted the Intralogistics Wasen 2024, event which attracted 90 attendees from 45 different companies and institutions, including 11 exhibiting companies, all of whom are pioneering new advancements in the field of intralogistics. Among the participants were guests from Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. The event created a platform for meaningful exchanges between solution providers and those seeking to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability within their supply chain and internal logistics operations.

NAiSE Intralogistics Wasen 2024 was held at ARENA2036, Stuttgart’s innovation and research hub, where NAiSE’s headquarter is also located, brought together key stakeholders in the intralogistics industry. Event was fostering a collaborative environment where technology leaders, innovators, and solution providers gathered to explore and discuss the latest advancements in Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), VDA 5050, localization technology, as well as the future of intalogistics technology. 

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS AND INSIGHTS: BRIDGING THEORY WITH REAL-WORLD APPLICATION

A highlight of the event was the impressive lineup of speakers who shared their knowledge, insights, and experiences on a wide range of topics, including innovative technologies, safety in intralogistics, and future growth opportunities for automation.

The opening keynote, delivered by Kai Przybysz-Herz, Co-Founder and CEO of NAiSE, set the tone for the day with an insightful presentation titled “Intralogistics – Transparent. Flexible. Simple.” His talk emphasized the significance of creating streamlined and adaptable solutions for the industry, outlining the vital role that companies like NAiSE play in making logistics processes more efficient and cost-effective.

Dr. Lucian Dold, Senior General Manager of Global Accounts at Omron Corporation, who spoke on the topic “Technologie-Investitionen für Game-Changer: Wir entwirren das Henne-Ei-Dilemma” (Technology Investments for Game-Changers: Solving the Chicken-Egg Dilemma), focusing on the strategic decisions companies must make in adopting game-changing technologies.
René Wermke, Director of Sales & Business Development at Quuppa, who delivered a presentation titled “Enabling The Future of Logistics” that discussed the critical role of real-time tracking and data visibility in modernizing logistics operations.
Martin Günther, Key Account Manager at Pilz GmbH & Co. KG, who presented on “Safety & Security Anforderungen in der Intralogistik” (Safety & Security Requirements in Intralogistics), focusing on maintaining high safety standards in environments increasingly dominated by automation.
Markus Schmidt from Waitkus Engineering GmbH, with his presentation “Intralogistikkonzepte der Zukunft” (Intralogistics Concepts of the Future), discussing highly flexible automation solutions for mobile robots.
Dr. Nicolas Thorstensen, Managing Director at Iviso GmbH, talked about the importance of digital twins in intralogistics in his presentation “Semantic Digital Twins in Intralogistics”.
Jörg Heckel, Project Director for Mobile Robotics at Bosch Rexroth, delivered an insightful presentation on “Growing Successful with VDA5050”, emphasizing the growing influence of the VDA 5050 standard in the industry.
Alessandro Castagnotto, Head of R&D in the Intralogistics Product Line at Continental Mobile Robots, wrapped up the series of keynotes with his presentation “Continental Mobile Robots + VDA5050 = Making Things Easy”, exploring the success of VDA 5050 implementation in Continental’s operations.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND IN-DEPTH SESSIONS: EXPLORING THE FUTURE OF INTRALOGISTICS

In addition to individual presentations, the event featured a roundtable discussion moderated by Matthias Plucinski, Co-Founder and Lead Automation Consultant at Automation Awakenings, which focused on VDA 5050: Implementation, Benefits, and Challenges. Panelists from top companies, including Sven Kaluza from Omron, Alessandro Castagnotto from Continental Mobile Robots, and Kai Przybysz-Herz from NAiSE, engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on how the industry-wide standard VDA 5050 is transforming mobile robot communication and integration. The session provided actionable insights into overcoming challenges when adopting this standard, as well as the future opportunities it creates for businesses in intralogistics.

LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS: SHOWCASING THE FUTURE IN REAL-TIME

The NAiSE platform demonstration was one of the main attractions of the day. NAiSE engineers conducted a live demo showcasing the integration of their software platform with AGV and AMR robots from participating companies. Attendees were given the unique opportunity to witness how the platform works in real-time, handling complex intralogistics tasks with precision and efficiency. From managing fleet operations to optimizing workflows, the NAiSE platform demonstrated its capability to significantly improve logistics operations.

Moreover, the event featured the 5GMIPS project, a joint initiative between companies Omron, NAiSE, Nokia, and Waitkus, which highlights the critical role of 5G Private Wireless Networks in improving communication and control for mobile robots. The live demonstration included technologies such as:

LD-250 mobile robot and TM12 cobots from Omron, demonstrating how these mobile robotic solutions can be controlled via a private 5G network,

NAiSE’s control system, which showcased how multiple robots and devices can be managed seamlessly within a unified platform, offering a glimpse into the future of interconnected logistics environments.

These demonstrations allowed attendees to experience first-hand how the integration of advanced robotics, 5G communication, and NAiSE’s software solutions can create a more efficient, flexible, and scalable intralogistics environment.

EXHIBITION AND NETWORKING: FORGING NEW PARTNERSHIPS

The day’s agenda also included an exhibition, which featured some of the most prominent names in the industry, such as Omron, Bosch Rexroth, Continental Mobile Robots, Quuppa, Kärcher, Pilz, Iviso, Waitkus Engineering, Symovo, Hikrobot and Jungheinrich. Exhibitors presented their latest products and solutions, offering attendees an in-depth look at cutting-edge technologies that are revolutionizing the field of intralogistics.
